The LSE Students' Union spaces accommodate over 200 clubs and societies, two bars and a nightclub. Our graphic solution to the refurbishment compliments architect Mark Hines' restrained interventions and allows new students to recognise the LSE's unique culture of debate and controversy.
We worked with the students to develop a suite of graphic 'conversations' — a web of pithy remarks from LSE alumni from JFK to Mick Jagger, designed as wallpaper and impromptu signage. A full length blackboard runs along one wall of the bar to encourage offhand commentary by today's students, ensuring the exchange of ideas never ends.
